Tianmen Cave 天门洞

One of the many hot spots in ZhangJiaJie. It is not actually a cave, but a hole that was formed naturally in a mountain which looks like a bridge too! This is how it looks like when the sky is clear.

and this is how it looks like during rainy season when the sky is all fogged up.

we can hardly see the hole!

The procedure to get to this place was….phew! First, you have to take the cable car to the mountain, then transfer to another bus which will drive you through this windy road to get to foot of the steps leading to the top!

This stretch of steps is called “Climbing Heaven Stairs (上天梯). There are a total of 999 steps. The number 9 represents the number of palace they have in heaven. A to and fro journey makes it 1998 steps. It took me around half an hour to get up and another half an hour to get down. Look how steep those stairs are! I took like 10 breaks in between and most of the old people there are surprisingly “fit”
